Travelling with kids
Slower days, fewer sights and more ice cream.
Choose the right destination
Look for short transfers, easy transport and plenty of parks and beaches. Singapore, Sydney, Lisbon and Vancouver are excellent first trips with children.
Pace your days
- Plan one main activity a day and keep afternoons flexible.
- Build in playground or pool time.
- Stay in one base rather than moving every night.
Flights
- Book seats together early; consider bassinet seats for babies.
- Pack snacks, a change of clothes and new small toys.
- Feeding or a drink during take-off and landing can help small ears.
Accommodation
Apartments or family rooms with a kitchen make early dinners and naps easier. Check whether cots and high chairs are available.
Health and documents
Every child needs their own passport. Pack children's medicines, sun protection and a simple first-aid kit, and check entry rules for minors travelling with one parent.
