3 days in Barcelona
Gaudí, the Mediterranean and dinner after ten. A 3-day plan.
Barcelona mixes beach-city ease with serious architecture and one of Europe's great food cultures. Days start late, lunches run long and the evening vermut is close to sacred.
Day by day
Day 1: Gaudí's Barcelona
Visit the Sagrada Família in the morning, walk Passeig de Gràcia to Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, and spend the evening in Gràcia's squares.
Day 2: Old city and the sea
Explore the Gothic Quarter and El Born, see the Palau de la Música, then relax at Barceloneta and tapas-crawl in the evening.
Day 3: Hills and views
Start at Park Güell, then spend the afternoon on Montjuïc and finish with tapas in Poble-sec.
Make it work
- Best months: Apr–Jun, Sep–Oct. See the season calendar.
- Book ahead: the most popular sights and restaurants, especially in peak season.
- Where to eat along the way: El Xampanyet, Cal Pep, La Boqueria.
- Getting around: The metro covers almost everything; a T-casual 10-ride card is the best value.
Short on time, or staying longer?
With less time, keep the first days and skip the day trip. With more, add a slower day for a neighbourhood from our best areas to stay, or choose more from the full list of things to do.
Opening days and times change, and some sights close one day a week. Check before you go. Last reviewed October 2026.
